Hi Guys, well I finally picked up my new mill today:clap: it's all assembled and I've gave it a try out on some black wood I had about. All went well, a couple of loose bolts but not a bad result for the first attempt. My question is , do you guys recommend locktite on some of the bolts? I haven't used locktite on nylon nuts before will it work?
Thanks Jason

I've not found it necessary on my 30" mill. The only thing that has worked its way loose on my mill is the screw/nut clamp that holds the round tube. Just be mindful that it is a high vibration environment and you just need to check it from time to time. I got into the habit of checking the mill after each pass because I have to fill the gas and oiler tanks after each pass of a long cut. It's pretty handy that the saw scrench works on all the hardware.

Yeah thanks Flashhole, I thing I will invest in a ring ratchet spanner though. I'll get ome pics up when I can work out how to! I just have to get the 36"bar as I old only try the mill with my 25" bar o had to remove the saw dogs which was a real pain in the arse! A trial run was good as I could figure out what I need to do for set up, you know length of screws etc. one problem I had was one of the handle srews came loose and on the sat slab the hight adjustment moved. Traps for new players. I'll have to set up an edger like yours as using the granberg adds a layer of complexity. Cheers:cheers:

Tell me about it. I had a very unsuccessful run last Saturday. Things went loose multiple times. I think I cut more metal then wood...multiple sharpenings and false starts. I also likely did more harm then good in filing my chains and maybe more vibration caused the loosening. So I called it a day and me and my logging buddy dropped the chains off at Ace for a professional sharpening and went to the bar for some much needed solace from the golden Elixir

Planning on going at it again Thursday afternoon - gonna keep a much better eye on all those nuts and bolts

Yeah a few beers is a good way to wash away frustration. I just dont want to lose any of the longer nuts. My test run was on a 25 inch bar, Fathersday is comming up so have placed an order with the family for a 36" bar and chain.:msp_biggrin: At least then I won't have to take the dogs off the saw and fart around with an akward set up. Good luck on Thursday Arvo!

So far mine are all holding tight. Perhaps it a good idea to blackout one facet of the nuts with a Sharpie along with a black visual reference spot so a quick glance will tell you if they are backing out.
