HI Cliff
The dogs look great, your 066 has the power to handle them in hardwood. Here is a set I made for my 088KD,aluminum road sign light but strong

Cliff, those are sharp spikes. :) How'd you make them, plasma cutter? Also, what grade SS?

I've always been a spike fan. Here are a couple shots I made for the big Jonsey. They're actually replicas of the originals--they really made them that big. I don't have a nifty tool like a plasma cutter or punch press lying around so I used an angle grinder and hacksaw. Some grade of mild steel I've had forever.

Seth and John.Y'all bothe got some cool looking dawgs.Seth, those have to help on that hotsaw.I remember Art made one for his 090 that collasped out of the way on the down/up cut.John,I did use a plasma cutter to cut them. They got at work,so it is like a "government project":D Yours, looks as good if not better than mine though.Big dawgs rule!

They actually didn't come out the way I planned. I figured the geometry wrong and the lowest spike ended up on the skinny side.

Next project is to make a set with a couple of angled helper spikes welded on the bottom of the main set. I saw some like this on a Contra years ago. Pretty sure they were OEM. Anyone know what I'm talking about or have a photo?

John, thats some pretty good handy work considering it was all done with a hacksaw and grinder!! If any of you guys are really interested in making aftermarket dawgs, I have access to a CNC mill and would be more than happy to help you out. They can be made any size, style, thickness, etc. I can do the programming as well as run the mill. If your interested let me know. All I would need is a sketch or some type of pattern. I may even be able to provide the material.

I should have let you guys know in the last post that I'm not looking to charge anybody for this...I'd just like to help anyone out that's interested in making new dawgs. Just curious if you put modified dawgs on a "Hot Saw" are they considered "Hot Dawgs" :p

Jeff

Thanks for the offer. I don't know what plans Cliff has, but I probably want to make a set of spikes twice a year. Much more fun doing it myself, although I wouldn't mind having a CNC mill... Not hardly worth asking someone else to do it. I'll save up those offers for when I have a real tough job. :)

Actually it was a little more than just a hacksaw and grinder. I drilled out (with a portable drill--currently looking for a decent drill press) the throats between the spikes. Some off the rough cutting was also done with a sawzall, but the rest was a hand job. Finishing was done with a grinder, files, and a disc sander to take off a couple years of outside rust.
