Is there a such thing as Gaffs specifically designed for pine tree climbing?

Not tree hooks, but hooks actually designed, sold, and used for pine tree climbing?

I heard mention of some over the weekend, but have never heard of them on here, and debated not asking for fear of flame; be gentle, I have my 1 feeling out on roam tonight.

Never heard of them and i've used spurs for 18 years. Maybe they meant pole spurs for climbing poles?? They aren't as long.

The guy I heard this from is a journeyman lineman; he said they've got them at work.
Pole hooks, pine tree hooks, and everything else tree hooks.

And He's been there 10 yrs, so FIIK.

But Ima take a picture of them and poast it

Not that i know of. Maybe thats what those guys call them.

Living in the Pine Tree State we use pole spikes, they work great.
The Pine Tree state?
Georgia? ;)

I did not know Maine was the pine tree state.

They are everwhere down here...

Do y'all do anything different when climbing a pine vs. other trees?

Stop it!
There is no pine spur, spike, or gaff, this is getting stupid.
Jeff ;)

I thought it was a bit far fetched, but my OP was semi serious; I'll try my best to get pics of what the lineman is talking about, and post them here.

Why you so Cjcocn?

I guess they are grinding the longer gaffs down to make them shorter and wider but longer than pole spikes.

My pruning spikes have a short gaff.............

I'm joking,

they're actually quite long

I really wish there was a mid length gaff, I have always worn pole spikes because they are more comfortable to me but I really hate climbing thick barked trees and spurring out for the first 15 feet. I am actually considering buying some tree gaffs but the ones I have tried feel like I am climbing on stilts.
