Hello Everyone, nice to join your community, and as with most joinings I'm sure are out of necessity.

I have a tree that I am wondering if this is diseased? see photo.

Any advise on the matter is greatly welcomed.
Sincerely,
Donal.

Can you post a picture of the whole tree.

Picture doesn't look good.

Usually a strong wind will break your pine off at one of those weeping locations.

thanks brnchbrkr
so is it just a natural weeping point of sap then? or is it infected or diseased I wonder? It's a tenant of mine who sent me the photo, apparently the weight of the tree is bringing it down at that point.
thoughts?
donal.

here you go brnchbrkr,

this is the largest photo I have, the sap is coming from the bowed area of the tree, and apparently it's gotten much worse, I guess this is where the tree is threatening to come down.

any suggestions as to what to do?

Looks a borer maybe shot hole , whatever it is the tree trying to push them back out the same way they came in with the sap , either way that tree is almost trash..

thanks folks,

what do you mean by a "borer shot hole" and trying to push back out..

do you mean a boring animal perhaps?

Donal.

Bug's,Borer's and Pitch "Oh My"

I would agree that it appears to be a borer of some type attacking the tree.
You would need to properly ID the bug before you could treat the problem--if at all-- The tree produces pitch as a defense and trying to pitch out the offending insect-if it was successful the insect shouldbe stuck in the pitch. If the tree is already under stress?? in a lot of cases the trees is all ready weaken and cannot produce enough-if any pitch--to defend it self----

What's the crown of the tree look like?? Any saw dust around the base of the tree? Take a jpg of the tree and it's general surroundings?

thanks folks, yes i have asked the people living at the property to a photo of the full tree and get it tp me, once I have it I'll post it here :) enjoy the weekend .
