Why do I occasionally see pink ashes in my fireplace?

You can see the ashes in the back are kind of pinkish too. They're all from the same wood as the gray ashes. What gives?

I see that every so often as well. Sometimes yellow or blue also. Perhaps some minerals/impurities that were in that section of wood?

Maybe. It must be something that burns off at higher temperatures. The last coals to burn out are always the pinkest. Is that the case for you too?
