I have a pioneer farm saw with a 20" bar. Looking to buy a chain .404 x .058 to fit this saw. Not sure how many drivers are need as it does not have a chain at present time. Even a good used chain would work. A length ofchain would work as well as I can make my own. Anyone have one/some? Thanks.

it will fit if you change the sprocket and have a harden tip bar. But yes they come stock wit 3/8 . A .404 chain don't stretch as much.

.404 is run on large displacement professional saws, which the Farmsaw is not. Why would you want to make the saw work harder?

Well when I got the saw the guy had a 3/8 chain on it and a .404 sprocket in which the 3/8 chain ate right thru the sprocket and totally ruined it. I tried to find a 3/8 sprocket but had no luck. I did find a perfectly matched new NOS .404 sprocket, so I bought that one and change the bar tip to a .404 as well. So that is the why LOL!! I need the .404 x 058 chain. I am just going to sell the saw anyway. I like my 394xp and 066 mjuch better. LOL!!

Mount the bar and center the adjusting pin between the bar studs. Run a string around the EDGE go the bar and sprocket and measure it. Post the number and I will see if I have a loop here.

I agree with Guido, it came with 3/8 chain. Here is my 1981 FarmsawImageUploadedByTapatalk1413854582.550072.jpg
