So I picked up my first Pioneer the other day and am excited to get her up and running. When looking it over, and after doing some research, it appears that the decomp on mine is broken and not working properly. My question is, has anybody ever tried to remove the automatic decomp parts from the starter and just install a standard decomp button and make a hole through the starter cover for it to protrude through? That way you can manually press it before pulling it. I am aware of the weakness of the starter if the decomp is not used, but parts for the automatic decomp are scarce so if this will get the saw running, it sounds like a good idea to me. Any thoughts?
