Pipe Dampers

Does anyone here run a pipe damper do you think it helps hold the heat in better?Or are they a waste of money !This is a not epa stove so I highly doubt it matters to ,not to!I already have cresote build up so I highly dout it will be worse with one.

Flue dampers can help keep heat within the unit. If the draft is weak, then I wouldn't bother. But when your draft is too good, you lose alot of heat out the flue. I have one, don't use it because I have a barometric damper. You can put one in and try it. Worse case is you leave it open. They do work.

mine works great. it really helps the burn times too.

They probably help on a lose joint old kitchen stove, or one of those Franklin types. The airtite type stoves can only let go up the pipe what you let in through the draft on the stove.

Why I asked is once the old girl is cooking I go out side I see no smoke but lots of heat coming out!I have good draft I think I might give one a try!
that wayI canlet the air at the fire abit more.
