Had a little time today so I pulled out the Partner 5000Plus. It's a low hour saw, it's stock except for the blocked carb governor. Made a few cuts and checked the rpm 13800. I've been wanting to pull the baffle out of the muffler, easy it just slides off the studs and spacers, so I did. I left the outlet hole alone in the front cover. Warmed it up, needed to richen the L screw about 1/5 of a turn and made a cut, hmmm too rich, put the tach on 11800 now. Tuned by ear leaning the H a little at a time while making test cuts and no load. It's now at 14300 and still 4 stroking no load. Noticeable power increase, I even swapped it to 3/8 pitch and it really pulls well with a 7 tooth sprocket. I posted this to show that opening the exhaust does not always required a richening on the H side, but does usually require richening the L side.
