Do I have to remove the drive sprockets to replace poly chain on my 1635 Jr.? Any other tips for replacement would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance for any help!!

You shouldn't have to remove the poly chain sprockets. On a Rayco there is usually a threaded rod above the cutter head wheel and this will shorten the distance between the sprockets for you to put the belt on. Upon replacing the belt, you do the opposite to tighten the belt.

If you ever need poly chain sprockets, poly belt, or bearings, please give me a call and I believe we can save you some money.

Hope this helps!

Thanks Dave! I appreciate your response. I actually pulled the lower sprocket off and everything went back on smooth. I'll be sure to check with you on prices next time, Mine broke and I was in a bind to get one and get going again. Thanks!

Sorry to be late on this, but I was able to replace mine without removing the sprockets. Like dave said, I loosened the top pillow blocks all the way back. and was just able to slip it over with a bit of effort. It is a pain because if you adjust that, you must readjust the other initial drive Vbelt as well.

Obviously you already know this, but I figured I would write it in if anyone else ever references this post.

Out of curiosity, how much did that poly belt set you back?

Thanks for you're help. Pulling lower sprocket was simple and didn't throw everything way out of adjustment. $225.00, from Rayco, I found it at a local industrial bearing shop for 215 but didn't have it in stock
