hey-Hey!!!,
Just got one of these, and as advertised it has no spark. One, how does this thing work? and two is it as simple as replacing the coil? Are the NOS ones functional? This is my first modern Mc...the rest are reed machines.
cheers,
Douglas

Alright, some progress...got a new coil and got it running. Thanks to Ray Benson, its IPL. This beast came without a fuel filter and that bit me on the backside( one more thing on the CHECK THAT list). Carb kit and some gaskets on the way. Hope to find a very plugged up inlet screen so I don't have to get paranoid about the check valve under the small welch plug.

More news as it happens, but a question: how does the needle screw cover come out? stays with the carb I am currently betting, and slips into the hole in the cover on re-assy...

If any of you can give me a set of steps to remove the carb, I'd be grateful.

Douglas

Congratulations on entering the World of Ten Series MACs. Removing the carb on my 700 stumped me as well many years ago. It is so simple I am still embarrassed. Just unscrew the two bolts on top of the small lid that has the stud for the air filter cover. Linkage and fuel line removal will be intuitive once the carb is loose.

Take future questions to the McCulloch sticky thread; some real experts there.
