I have a landini blizzard 65 65hp farm tractor that I use to skid my firewood with....and I just recently bought a farmi log loader from and older gentlemen. I will be running the loader off the hydraulic on the tractor via 2 quick connect hoses. Should I be worried with the 2 possible different type of fluid mixing with each other or I should be fine. I know he was running it off a farm tractor but there is no way for me to know what type of fluid is in the hoses and cylinder on the loader.

If you are using a universal type fluid in your tractor you should be fine. All of us in the neighborhood borrow each others implements back and forth and I know we dont all use the same fluid, never been a problem. Maybe some of the hydraulic gurus will have a better answer than my rancher perspective.

Thanks for your reply, my landini is the same model as one of the massey ferguson I don't recall which one, but when I went to the dealer "kubota" it's the only dealer in my area, I wanted to buy hydraulic fluid to top up my transmission, so they did a cross reference and they sold me the kubota transmission fluid and told me it was compatible to use in my transmission.

That is what I would go with then. My massey ferg uses the same fluid for transmission, rear end and hydraulics and ive never had a non-compatability issue when using someone elses implements.

It wouldn't surprise if that same Kubota dealer tells his customers with Kubota tractors they should use only Kubota hydraulic oil and no other brand.

I was thinking the same thing, so they can make some more money off me when my tranny is broke hehe. So far so good anyways!

Tractor hydraulic fluid is universal regardless of the brand. The other fluids like power steering are different from tractor hydraulic

Straight hydraulic fluid is different than tractor trans/hydro, and if you don't want to get gouged at the dealer NAPA has tractor/trans/hydro fluid for much less then the dealers... And all the dealers say to only use their fluids blah blah blah... (Case tried to tell me that the "other" stuff has zinc in it and its bad for my machine)

Harley Davidson is famous for trying to void warranties if you don't use their HD oils... which by the way is the same as Delo...

Thanks for your input guys, I got the loader hooked to the tractor for the first time yesterday and everything works flawlessly, love it.

Thanks again.
