I just aquired a very used Poulan 2300 and found a couple of issues with it.
The first is that the fuel line was broken where it goes on the barb under the handle, I obtained some hose and found the fuel filter in the tank with about one inch of line on it, I retrieved it and pushed the piece of line that was broken off even with the casedown into what i thought was going to be the fuel tank. Evidently there is some space between the case and the tank at this point because I pushed about 8 in. of line into the hole and none of it entered the tank. Anyone have the know how to tell me how to do this without taking the saw apart.
Thanks

You have to take the saw apart.

The fuel tank is plastic, and seperate from the metal case you need to take it all apart to first push the line through the case and then through the plastic into the tank.

You don't need an IPL to do this simple job- remove the air box cover, the starter assy and the RH side cover. The tank comes out with the starter. Pop the tank out of the starter housing and replace its internal hose first- about 6" of 3/16" OD Tygon hose and a new fuel filter. Get another foot of Tygon and remove the handle cover (one phillips screw) and feed the hose through to the carb. Cut off any excess hose. Install the starter assy first and hook the hoses together at the barb. Reassemble the other parts. Total time- about 10 minutes.

In case there is a problem with the barb (elbow) at the rear of the handle, you really don't need it. I have repaired several of those by simply running a single piece of hose all the way from the tank, through the handle and to the carb. It always made the corner at the rear of the handle just fine and I never had a problem.
