I'm so confused!!! Have two 3700's with regular i rings. However when I ordered (part# 530024756) I received thin rings very similar to 4000 rings. Are there two different part #'s and if so does anyone know what it is for the thicker rings? I haven't checked piston yet but you can't insert thin rings in a regular piston can you? Seems like there would be a lot of slop!

The rule of thumb is.............................always pull the muffler and look before ordering rings for that series.

I believe I have seen both sizes on all three models. I know I have a 4000 with thick, a 3700 with both and a couple of 3400s with thick right now.

No they will not interchange!

I agree. Problem is there is only one part# for all three saws(different # for each saw obviously) and IPL doesn't specify if its for the thin or thick rings. How does one differentiate when ordering?

Tell them!

That's just what I thought when I was looking for 4000 rings. However, it seems there's no one to tell. The lady taking the order has no idea what the guy in the warehouse is going to put in the box. Not only that, but you'd be surprised how many people in the business don't even know how to measure a ting.

I think the problem is that Poulan released IPL's quite often for different serial number runs. Problem is that not many people anymore have access to the complete set of IPL's.

You're probably right, Mark. Sent Calvin a PM asking him to find out what the IPL #s are for the thick and thin rings.. Bought the thin rings from him so I figure he'd help. He got back and said he would. Soon as I hear I'll bring everyone up to date.

its possible ari made a booboo when they put the database together its been known to happen in the past monday i will call tracey at poulan and find out what is going on and will inform everyone what i find out

they did the same typo on the S25DA fuel cover gasket part # it should be 530019055 instead of the part they show

how i determined that is matched a gasket i had here to a picture of the gasket someone needed

well i have to get some parts boxed up and processed and delivered to the post office before noon

poulan told me that the part # is correct for the 3700 they are going to be getting the specs on the ring its possible that the manufacture sent me the wrong ring in the correct package with the specs we can see if it matchs the ring for this series

Thanks Calvin. I'll be waiting for your findings as my saw is sitting there staring at me.

Do you still have the thin rings?
