Poulan 4018 ring/piston size

I have a 4018 with 20 pulls to reach 90lbs compression. It tries to run but just falls short. Piston is scored thru exhaust hole not burnt just evenly scored. Thinking a piston and ring would make it run again. Googled but not sure about correct choice thats inexpensive.

budddy , if I were looking to fix up my pp4018 I'd make sure the aluminum from the piston would clean up off the cylinder .

First thing is to take it apart and inspect the damage, If scoring on piston is not severe and rings are just stuck but the end gap is still OK ( 0.020" to 0.040" per inch of dia.), you might be able to just clean it up and see if the compression gets better. However a replacement P/C combo from Farmertec is so cheap, it's not worth spending a lot of time working on it with questionable outcome.

Not just rings, a P/C combo is a chrome plated cylinder, piston with rings and a wrist pin with clips. Shipping costs with Farmertec depends on where you live but isn't much. If you do a search on Amazon or ebay you can find it a little cheaper and with no shipping charges. Should be less than $40. Buying direct from China can result in LONG delivery time, Farmertec is faster and seems to have fewer issues with quality control.
