I have an older Poulan XX, been trying to get it running, got it to run for a short while when I shot some starting fluid in the carb, but doesnt seem to work otherwise. I am getting spark and cleaned everything up pretty well, I sprayed some carb/choke cleaner in the tank to clean out any debris and hopefully clean out the fuel filter.

I also took off the carburetor to clean it thoroughly, but in the process I think I cut the diaphragm, at least I think that's what it's called. I guess i would need a carb rebuild kit for it, as a couple of the gaskets are crap too. Im also not sure if it's getting gas. I was looking for an IPL on it from the poulan site, but dont have the correct model number, I dont know what they are looking for, it only says Poulan XX on the case, and it has a serial number on the bottom. I can take some pics if needed, but any help from you guys here would help Im pretty new to chainsaws and from what Ive read you all seem knowlegeable. Thanks in advance for your help!!

Xx

I have a carb kit if you decide you need one for the XX. Its been opened but is all there. Its a complete kit, not just a diaphram kit, you want need part of it unless your carb is really gunked up. If you dont find the IPL from Scott telling you where it is, let me know here and I will post you the link.

Carb Kit

Thanks, I would really appreciate it, let me know if you find it and I will get you my info. It's great to know that there are ppl out there that support each other like this. I will take some pics of the saw when I get the chance and post them, along with updates on the rebuild.

Thanks again!

Carb kit RK-14HU

I got the kit in hand. Make sure you have a Tillotson carb on the XX. I have the complete RK-14HU kit. I would put everything except for the welch plug and screen, unless yours is gunked up bad. They are a pita to me. So PM me your address and I will slap it in the mail.

XX saw info

does anyone have any info as far as specs on this saw, ie. size (CC) and bar/chain sizes, as well as anyone putting on a different size chain than what came with it? 12" I think. would a 14" work, or would it be too big for the saw to handle. Thanks!!
