I have a 42" double ended chainsaw mill that I'm looking to start using, but need to snag a second powerhead. Right now I've got an old 066 that holds its own on stuff up to about 25-30", but I've recently found a good source for bigger wood to slab up. Found an 880 for $950 (might be able to get it for 900 since it needs tuned). Was curious to hear your throughts on putting that on the other end of the mill with my 066. Or should I just get another 066? Decent ones seem to go for only about $200 less than the 880 and that would be better balanced, but less torque. I know the 880 tops out at a slightly lower rpm too but wasn't sure if that would be an issue if we're paying attention and keep the 066 throttled back a little. Milling maple, cherry, oak, that kind of stuff.
Thanks-

Edit: Apologies, I realize now this subject has been brought up in numerous other threads, which I only recently found. Disregard.

Is that a 42" "in the wood" or an Alaskan Mark III w/ a 42" bar and 36" in the wood?

With an 880 you should be able to just put a handle on the other end. My 660's easily handled 30"
plus cuts (32" bar 36" Alaskan Mark III) and sounded like they had enough grunt to do the full 36" in the wood in red maple.
