Pressure/vac tester

Built a pressure/vac tester yesterday, thought I would post some pics, for those that may want to built their own.

Gauge is a pressure/vac gauge, 10 psi, and 30hg. Use a tee, to split the vac hose, to go to the saw, the gauge, and the air/vac supply. I use a shut off valve to shut the air supply off to see if the saw holds pressure, and a mini air regulator hooked to a compressor, or take the vac hose off and connect to a mighty vac.

In this case I found a leak in the case in front of the cyl, spray it with windex, it bubbles nicely.

nice work. be carefull with that regualor max pressure.... flip it wrong and the seals will blow out.

Yes, I agree, it takes allot of turns to get to max pressure, so its pretty safe!! The brass piece is just a shut off valve to see if the saw holds pressure.

How would a blood pressure bulb work for pumping up the pressure? We use these at work to pressurize small containers to check for leaks.

It would work just fine, thats what the Stihl manual says to use.

Continous flow is real nice for finding bad leaks - dunk the entire sealed saw underwater - watch for bubbles.

yup, it had to be running all the time for me to find the leak, since I couldn't get the ex and int to seal properly.
