I am looking for a bar for a Pro Mac 700. I am having trouble finding this saw listed in the different bar selector guides I have found. I find a 700 and some Pro Macs with different series. Is the 700 the same saw? How do I know which series the saw is?

My end goal is a bar and chain combo in the 28 inch category, but a 24 or 30 would do.

Thank You in advance

Here's the page... btw, Oregon's site just lists '700' '800' and the similar Pro Mac saws as numbers, no Pro Mac, or PM, just the numbers. I hope this helps.

I have used the numbers to cross reference on some of the sponser sites here to see if they had the bar. Bailey's should have it. However, I can't seem to find the right chain on their site for it. Seems like the biggest loops (28") are always cut to Husky/Stihl drive link length, 91 links, not 92 like Oregon specifies.

Something like this one?

All of the McCulloch 10 Series (1-10, 2-10...10-10, PM700, 800, SP81, etc.), all of the 600 Series saws (605, 610, 650, etc.), and the Titan Series (57, 70) use the same bar mount. Shopping around for the Oregon will likely yield the lowest price and they are good bars. If you want an original McCulloch bar shop e-bay or luck in to one.

I did get one (maybe two) 28" McCulloch branded sprocket nose .375 bars from the guys at The Cutting Edge, I think AS members Spike 60 and Cutting Scott are both at The Cutting Edge.

The e-bay link posted by Ron is also a good source, I have purchased several bars from him and have always been very happy with the price and delivery.

You can always take your existing bar to a few shops and see if they have something that will match up, you might be surprised at what you find.

Or you could just walk into any Oregon dealer and tell them what size bar you want in a D176 mount. If they don't have it they can order it.

The original Oregon McCulloch mount was a D276 which has been obsolete for quite sometime and the D176 bar is its replacement.

Or you could go to Baileys website and order one there. Here is the 24"

Unless you really need the reach of a 28" bar, I would stop at a 24" on a PM700, as it will do alot better job with it.
