Do you guys think the bumper link chain is measurably different in cutting speed than say, Carlton full chisel K2?

Assume both chains are full chisel .325 pitch , but one is bumper link.

We have two saws, one JD CS56, other Efco 956 with non safety chain. Both equaly sharpened to the best of our ability. Efco wins.

I didn't expect to see much difference, so was surprised.

My guess Tony is that the bumper link takes up chip space and rides up on chips pulling the nearest tooth out of the cut too.

I agree, the bumper straps add weight to chain, take up space that could be occupied by cut chips and thus produce more "drag" or resistance in the cut.

i just had to go an buy a full chisel, because the chisel on the 667 had ramps to the depth gauges. itv was not as fast,as the other saws without any safety features. it didnt take much time to see that the 667 with these ramps was not getting a fair chance,to be equeal to an 036 and dans ported 372.
it did make a good bit of difference .
of course if id had it sharpened other than with my fil;e it could have cut alrite.
lot o variables in stuff like that.
