does anyone know of any pulpwood buyers in the chenango county or the area,, also would like to cut a stand of hemlock, any help would be appreciated,, also what would be considered pulpwood,, anything, any species under 8" or is it species specific?... thanks

i am not sure about that area for pulp buyers, theres alot of pulp mills around here, but might be too much for trucking. for the hemlock, anything that has shake will be pulp. once you buck the hemlock let it sit on the landing for a week or more if you can and then check the butts for shake if there's any, send for pulp. from what i understand, alot of the loggers here will send the whole tree for pulp. They'll chip the branches and send them on a 55ft dump/box/walking floor trailer full of chips, then haul the managable stuff on the log truck/pup trailer.
There's hardwood pulp and softwood pulp. I would find a buyer before you start cutting, find out what they will take and how they take it.

the two big pulp buyers around here are Finch Pruyn in Glens Falls and International Paper in Ticonderoga. NY that is. Kinda a ways out for ya
