I was wondering if I can run a pursik with a nylon loop instead of rope. It might not be real easy to advance. Just wondering how it would hold? What do you guys think

Never used it to climb on but I've used it to tend a 3:1 pulling system or to mind a fiddle block to a pull line. In both those cases I was using a klemheist with the loop runner.

As mentioned above and in a rock climbing book I have, the "Kleimheist" is similiar to the prusik, only used with flat webbing. It's set up different then the prusik and I can't explain it by using words, so try to find a picture to make sure you get it right. I've never used it. Good luck.

thanks

I'll look up a kliemheist in my book. I know I've tried it, just need a refresher. Ill see what it says. I'm a bit of a newbie climber so thanks for the info.

Yes, I've used webbing now and then as a friction hitch. Klemheist or Hedden knot work well. I'm sure a Machard Tresse would work as well, if not better. (same as a Valdotain tresse, but with a closed loop.)
