Today I removed a 32" Silver maple.
Targets were a fence down one side and an 8' yard light on a pole right under the natural lean of the tree.
I limbed it down with free falls and roping until I got it stripped up to the top. Me and my brother discussed or options as whether to pull the top over with a rope and free fall it or butt hitch it, we decided to free fall it. The wind was blowing and I had this light pole right under where the butt would land. I gunned it with a humboldt and let it go, just as it layed flat and broke free I reached out and pushed the butt about 2' to one side and missed the light perfectly.
I was wondering how many of you guys do this? I am always throwing limbs with the saw bar as they release to miss targets too, I just like manipulating that stuff in mid air.
