I currently operate my insert with the manual fan speed control. It comes with a thermoisc that operates the fan automatically. I've set it to automatic and waited. he fan never came on. Is my fire not hot enough or something? How does a thermodisc work? I'm assuming its some kind og bimetal-type thermostat.

Thanks,

Jack

Hope this helps

Those thermo disc thingies are use on all manner of chicken incubators and baby chicken warmers. The folks at the local farm supply place or local hatchery might be of some help.

it shoud have an in:rockn: line on/off switch so i would make sure juice is passing through that 1st secondly it is a quarter size bi metle disk inline with the power passing through to the motor and then as it cools ,off she goes.Try finding the disk ,then jump it out to close the circuit if it fires it up ,than i would try to replace it

My Regency fan kicks on when the inserts front temp reaches 300. I hear they don't last though.

Hi Jackman!

How long did you wait for it to come on?

I have a Quad 5100I and mine usually kicks on anywhere from 30-60 min after lighting the stove. The disk is in the bottom of these stoves and kicks on at 110 degrees.

It just takes a while for the bottom of the stove to get this warm as the heat has to go through the ash layer, the fire brick and the stove bottom then heat the air surrounding the disk so it will kick on.

When your fire has been going for a few hours does the switch still turn off the fan?

Jack,

If you need to inspect it the lower cover on the 4100i comes off pretty easily. The top pops off and there are two screws on the sides. Did you relocate the fan to the left side?

Mine came on using the auto setting on the blower maybe an hour after lighting my very first fire in it on Saturday evening. Hasn't turned off yet, though.

I let the stove warm up for about 20-30min and then turn the fan on low. High when the thing is really crankin. I've started out with it in the auto position and waited for probably an hour and it never came on. I also put it in automatic mode when I've been burning for several hours and the fan goes off. This weekend I used my IR thermometer and got temperatures up to 650 degrees when the fire was burning its hottest. I guess there may be something wrong....I would think it would have worked at least once for me since I just got it three weeks ago. I guess I'll look into it some more after work.
