I am about to invest in some climbing gear because I am getting more serious about falling trees as a business on the side. I also have a lot more people asking me to fall their trees. With my experience as a carpenter I know that when you buy the cheap crap you get exactly what you paid for. So the high cost of a quality saddle and spurs is not really a concern when I am trusting it with my life.
I had a look on Baileys and the Petzl Sequoia SRT Saddle really caught my eye. It looks like a nice quality saddle and its not even a bad price. What do you think? Anything you think would be better?
As for spurs I really want something comfortable. That is probably the most important thing to me. I think steel spikes are all I need? Again, cost is not a concern.
And footwear is another necessity. I have nothing particular in mind so whatever you feel would be a good pair to get just say so.
Im guessing its always best to try before you buy, but where I live I don't have much selection so I am forced to look online. I appreciate your recommendations.
Thanks guys

Sequoia SRT is a very good harness, had one and really liked it, comfy and light. I ended up getting a treemotion and sold the Sequoia to a work mate, he loves it as does the several other climbers at work with one. We all mostly either use the treemotion or sequoia in this company with the exception of maybe two people, one with a skylotec(?) and another who wants a treemotion

Have you ever climbed before? Have you ever worked off spurs? I'm guessing that you don't know what would be comfortable, so you have no experience.

My first recommendation, make sure your life insurance is paid up and your worker's comp payments are up to date, so your family will have an income in the future.

No I have never climbed with spurs or saddle before.

You might want to consider some training, either formal or informal (having an experienced climber show you how) before you think about getting gear.

Taking a top out of a tree while standing on spurs is a lot different than falling the tree from the ground. Things can go wrong quickly and you have no place to run.

New tribe harness, aluminum gaffs, wire core flip line, stihl 201t, if you feel fancy wear some ppe like glasses. If your real fancy climbing helmet with one of those go-pro cameras. Those make you a pro right? If not I need higher aspirations. Weight the front side of the top, notch it and make your back cut, and hold on!!!!!!!!!!!!!
