I work for the local utility as a senior lineman and also dabble in a little tree work on the side. We are in the process of changing out our ropes on our wire pulling machines and I have the opprotunity to get the rope we are taking off. It is several thousand feet of 1in diameter samson bull rope.

I'am going to keep me about 500ft of this rope in case I ever need it, but there is no way I will ever need all of it. Is this something any of ya'll might be interested in buying from me at a very reasonable price? This would be excellent rope for holding or rigging very heavy loads. It is about 10 years old.

Thanks for a great site and any replys.

Yes it is braided, and right now it is brown because it is dirty. I can't remember what the original color it was, that was 10 years ago and I can't hardly rememver what I had for lunch yesterday.

Redonthehead,

You'll fine that just about every tree guy will only use new rope they bought themselves. After all there life depends on it. Even with bull rope, each climber that uses it depends on it and its strength for rigging wood over customers homes.

You say your rope is ten years old and you don't even know the original colour! As tree guys, we need to know our equipments history so we will know when to down-grade it for safety reasons. If your rope has ever been shocked to ran over with a truck or what ever,...there is no way for us to ever know this important info!

Maybe this rope can be used for something other than work in the trees.

Thankyou for thinking about us and your kind offer but for safety reasons, I'm gonna have to pass. I have a family to think about! HC

absolutuly i need like 250-240 feet pm or here. red,

Hmmm...???

Ten years old...
Dirty brown...
Unknown useage...
Unknown heritage...
Unknown storage and maintenance...
Stored near batteries maybe...

Sounds dubious for anything other than rope rugs.

I'd say don't buy that rope. 1" diameter rope that old and used....the remaining strength is unknown.

1" rope is way expensive. Even if you get a good deal on it, you're still better off getting a good 1/2" rope that is new.

What do you plan on using the big rope for, jmack?

love
nick
