Unfortunately my girlfriend's father has had some health issues and has been confined to his house for several years now. The other day I found a Stihl 065 in their barn, which he said hadn't been cranked in about three years. I use a Stihl 390 for firewood cutting and general farm use (I really just like to run saws and cut wood I'm not proffesional by any means) but anyway I too his saw out put some of my gas and bar lube in it and it cranked up almost immediately. I don't know how good the saw runs though and am interested in tuning it up what would you recomend I do?

You will get more info in the chainsaw section. The 064 is one of Stihl's best saws. 85cc or so and light for how powerful it is. At the very least I would replace the fuel line and filter, impulse line, spark plug, and if needed go through the carb. If it runs erratic and high, doesn't come back to idle well, or speeds up when rolled side to side, take it to someone that knows saws and have it checked out. Might even be worth having it looked at anyway. Great saw and it would be ashame to see it damaged.
