What is the difference between a 038 super and a 038 super pro? I have searched and havent' found a really good answer.

Chronologically I think it was the 038 Super, 038 Super Pro, then 038 Super Farmboss. I know they are exactly the same displacement. There may be a couple minor differences, but none that I'm aware of.

Is there much difference between those and a straight 038?

Some real Stihl guys can correct me if I get this wrong, but a standard 038 has 61cc, super models are 67cc and 038 mags are 72cc. Did I get that right? Always wanted an 038S.:greenchainsaw:

That's correct..

"pro". I think that was just a regional marketting name..

I'm pretty sure all the supers had the "dual port" muffler, and the magnums had the "triple port".

What exactly is meant by "dual port" when referring to mufflers? I have an 038 Super so how do I tell if mine is a "dual port" muffler which I gather is a higher-performance model.

Two openings in the muffer verses three. The Super has a port in the rear right and the front cover right. The magnum had an addtional "port" on the left side rear also.

I love starting the magnum when it's flooded - three big distinct plumes of smoke ;) ;)
