Hi all,

I'm new to this forum and had a question about my MS460:
The Auto decompression valve pops out every time I pull the starter cord. Is there a fix for this? It didn't always do this, only just before it was about to start.

Thanks for any tips!

Dean

The small bleadoff hole gets plugged up with carbon, pull the valve and clean out the small hole on the side of the valve. I found it a benifit to drill it out a bit bigger to cure my 066 that was giving nasty kicks.

Watch the treads on the valve when putting it back together, very fine and easily messed up in the aluminum head.

Welcome

I don't know if this is the case with your saw, but at a cold start, you choke it and pull it a few times until it pops. At this point the valve will close, even though the saw didn't start. Then you need to re-press the valve, turn off the choke and start it.

Mike - yes, it used to be just like that.

Timberwolf - how does the valve come out. I dunno if I can find my manual now. Do you mean to unscrew the push-valve istelf?

yes, unscrew the valve, you may need a thin wall socket to fit. Clean carbon off the lower works of the valve, then take a torch cleaner or like piece of wire to the small hole in the side.

I drilled mine out to 1/64 if I remember right, works better than it did right off the shelf.

If you dont want to mess with valve new ones are 30$ cdn so maybe about 25$ us.

You have to take off your top cover bacause there is a little rubber gromet thing on the top of it just take that off and get a longsocket it will screw right out.
