I'm going to start looking into setting up a wood furnace at my house. I currently have a glycol system heated by an oil furnace. I want a hybrid system that I would be able to switch from one furnace to another. Any suggestions on furnace brands and/or any other info I'm going to need would be appreciated.

Yukon-Eagle MutliFuel Wood/Gas/Oil/Coal Furnace

I purchased a yukon eagle combination wood natural gas Eagle 1 Husky furnace. Their website is www.yukon-eagle.com and they have been making these furnaces for over 30 years. The cool thing about them is they can burn wood and another fuel (natural gas/propane, or OIL depending on which burner you use) in a single unit with only one chimney. The gas (or oil burner) goes in a spot to the right of the firebox and burns gas or oil sideways into the firebox.

The firebox is big (even on the small model I can burn logs nearly 3 feet long) and it has both a primary and secondary heat exchanger which makes it very effeciant. Check them out, I have been running mine in my new house for a couple years and just love it.

If you later decide to switch from oil to natural gas or vice versa you can just install a differant burner without having to replace anything else. They even make coal grates if you have access to coal.

If you are interested give them a call, tell Keith I (Jim Matuska) refered you and he'll set you up with a great deal.
