I'll make this real easy as I don't want to annoy anyone with chain questions. I have a MS660 with 36" bar that I will be using sometimes for milling and sometimes for cross cutting, lets say half and half. I prefer Stihl chain and currently can get a good deal on 3 types. Semi chisel (RMC), full chisel (RSC), and full skip (RSF). My question is, which of these three is best for what I am doing? Thanks for the help.

They will all work and the best chain is the one that works best for you and unless you try them all you won't know. FWIW I mainly use full comp semi chisel.

I've tried all of the above, and found the RM (RMC is .325 pitch) semi-chisel to perform admirably as a milling chain. Skip chain vibrates and grabs too :censored:much for milling. I thought the RM to mill faster and smoother than full chisel, and this on my 066BB and 660.

I've since converted that RM to more of a milling configuration with 10* top plate angles.

A better idea is just to use milling chain (from Bailey's):spam: for milling and use whatever else for cross cutting. The chain from Bailey's has much longer cutters than my converted chain.

My 36" bar remains on the Alaskan mill most of the time, along with the 066BB. I have a 660 with 32" for a "trim saw" and backup powerhead.
