OK, here is the deal. For Christmas I bought myself a new 2013 Polaris Sportsman 400 HO 4X4.I need some ideas to help me figure out how to haul my saws around. The dealer has a rack but the price is way out of my price range. The saws range from the 028, 55, 025. 16-18 BC I am a certified ball-peen carpenter but I am willing to take a stab at constructing one. Thinking of some sort of box. This is wear I need some pictures to spark my fertile mind. Thanks, Ken

I saw a picture on the site of a log with a slot bored in it with the chainsaw and then bolted on to the rack. Just make sure the bar is sheathed in the wood completely to prevent catching it on stuff. Also the boring cut is dangerous so be safe.
Nick.

who cares about the rack...get some pics of that wheeler up! :)

Here's a box I built out of some scrap 3/4 plywood. I originally intended to use it in the woods. Holds two 440's, gas and oil. Ended up trying it out on the trails this year and it worked pretty well, although a little wide. I use two u-bolts to hold it onto the rear rack. Doesn't move a bit, trust me, I bumped a few trees on the trail with it and never had an issue.

Not the greatest pic of it, but you get the idear.

Rack?

I'm going to go with "Hillary Fisher" for $500, Alex.

Just remembered, you've probably got one of those 'composite' racks. Not sure how you'd anchor a box down, I've never seen one up close.

I built a few at work that are designed like the Kolpin to clamp to the bar. I quit using them because when you are clearing trails it is a pain to clamp the saw in drive 50yds clamp it in drive 50yds etc. The best thing I have found is an old Pepsi crate and just cut out one end for the bar and bungy cord it to the rack.

If you want to do it cheap like my BIL did. He took about an 8" log, strap it on parallel to your driveline on one end of your rack. Bore it out so you can shove the bar through and use a bungee strap to hold the powerhead to the rack.
