We've been amused watching the grand fir seeds being released the past few days.

Those little things really spin and hover.

Only a light breeze, maybe 5 mph winds, and they are cruising over the house to the street.

No real mess, just fun to watch. It's like spinning brown snowflakes.

I grew up with Douglas fir which drops cones. This is the first time I've had a good size grand fir in the Abies genus.
 
Grand fir is nice, I remember juvenile spacing it. Smells good as well.
