I was out cutting yesterday, and wasn't happy with the way the 400c was cutting. It felt like it was 4-Stroking in the cut, and it was running hot. Sure enough the cutters needed to be sharpennig (Square Ground), and I went ahead and re-calibrated it. That work exactly as described in the manual, but it will be at least a week before I can put it to a real test.

What has been your experiences in re-calibrating the M-Tronics? What caused you to re-calibrate, and did it fix the problem?

As long as I let them cold start warm up going through it's calibration checks, it's been good to go. I'll leave it in the choke start position for a minute then blip the throttle. This if for start of the day cold start.

Thanks! I'm going to start doing that -- letting it warm up on the choke start position. I still have habits from my carburetor saw usage days.

Have not had too recalibrate unless a part of the system was replaced. Newer saws recalibrate during use. If it continues there is another issue. "OMG it has a computer!". It is still just a mechanical saw. Same rules apply .

M-tronic saws, Auto-tune saws, injected saws......are all top shelf. When they need service, its a sad day.

Being able to rely on spark from a magneto ignition, and being able to adjust a carb will always be the most reliable machines. Give us a spark plug socket, a screwdriver, and a file gauge...........and watch the woodpile shrink......
