Does anyone out there have experience with using a rear mounted crane in tree work? I am looking to replace my behind the cab mounted, National 455 crane mounted on a tandem truck chassis that I use in my tree service. I am looking at new National rear mounted ones like a 690E with the idea being that I will be 20 feet closer to the tree I am removing if I back up to the tree. I no longer would have to lose 20 feet of radius because of the bed. I still need to use the truck bed to haul the logs away so I do not want a riding seat crane.

What has worked for you and what has not with a rear mount? Thanks!
