I meant to reply to the orginal thread I started but inadvertantly started a new one. Doh!!

Anyhow, here was my original post:

[Would be keen for a carb with adj lo & hi speed. Is there such a carb that'll work on this saw?]

And here was the response by Sedanman:

[Yes there is, but you have to make it. I took a carb off an 025 and modified it to work on my 017. You have to change the throttle shaft and modify the impulse hole].

Sedanman,

Do you feel it was worth the effort enough to recommend it?

Thanks,
rusty

The mod to the carb took about as long as doing a proper carb overhaul. I got lucky and started with a walbro low speed adjustable fixed high side carb. If you have a Zama on the saw right now you can't swap the throttle shafts. I further lucked out by getting the 025 carb for free off the junk pile at work. If you can find a walbro wt carb with high and low needles and a choke set-up and your 018 has a walbro on it now then I will do the mod for you if you pay shipping. I've always wanted to open the muffler on my 017, now I can because I have a fully adjustable carburetor.

Thanks for the info & offer Paul. It'll be a while before I can find the time to mess around with the saw. At least I now know it's possible and what it entails.

Thanks again,
rusty
