Anyone dealt with a completely frozen starter pulley/spring on their saw, in particular a Remington Super 754? I've fixed starters with weak cord tension, dirt and dust gumming things up, etc. This is different. It feels completely locked up like the starter spring rusted together. I can't get the cord to move at all, in or out.

I'm normally okay with a technical tap to get things loose but not on 50(?) year old cast magnesium. The IPL shows the common axis for all of the pieces in the assembly but it doesn't seem to show the axle the pulley rotates about...

It's part of the starter cover, steel post embedded in the magnesium casting. Once you pry off the clip #6, the washers and dog slip off. The pulley normally would as well if it wasn't frozen. If you get the pulley started off, be prepared for the spring tension. Cut the rope to let it unwind and release tension. Might be easier to find anothee recoil if yours is really corroded. Those pop up often enough.
