Chances are a local rental shop or even a Dealer will rent a used saw of your choice for you to try for a day. No matter how much someone else loves a saw, it may not be "right" for you. This applies to other equipment as well. Beauty truly is in the eyes of the beholder.

It may be better to spend the few dollars than to be married to an ugly saw with a wart on its nose.
:bang:

If I trust the customer I'll let them demo a used saw for a day before they buy it. No cost or anything.

Especially if they have a trade in I can hold onto as collataral;)

Why rent and spend good money?

Rental out here is expensive... $45-90 per day depending on the saw size..

Stihl (and I heard on AS that Husky does also) has a Satisfaction Guarantee. If you don't like it within 7 days (for ANY reason, or no reason), take it back for a full refund, plus $5 from Stihl to fill out an optional questionaire...

My local dealer has many Stihls to rent....if you rent any model and then choose to buy a new one he will wave the rental fee. I think that is a great deal. You can find out if you like the saw.
I would ask dealers about a something like that.

rjh245,

Now that is a deal. Maybe I would have grabbed the MS-660 instead of the MS-460. Actually, I am happy with the 460. Just curious about the 660. I stated on another post that I just learned Baileys carries bows for some Stihl models, so I guess I will have to grab another Stihl powerhead and stick a bow on it. I use a Super Wiz 66 with a bow and a Poulan 3700 with a bow. If our dealer let us do that, I could try a 660 and if I liked it, I could stick a bow on the 460 and grab the 660 for my felling saw.

I think it is a great deal ....He also has a log out back behind his shop. If people tell him a huskie or stihl cost to much he lets them cut the log with a wildthing he has then het lets them try a ms 250 or 141....He tells me he sells a lot of saws that way. If you buy a saw he sets it up and shows people how to use them. I just wish he could sell chain for 220 a roll like Bailey's.
