I've got an old 20" Stihl sprocket-nose bar that's in pretty good shape overall, however the Sprocket (and probably bearing) is shot. Is it possible to remove the rivets, replace the sprocket/bearing, and rivet it back together? Or would it not be worth it? My 041AV has a 16" bar now, and I'd like to have this 20" to go on it for a backup to my 290 (just in case). I've got a 20" on the old Farm Boss, but I'm planning on selling it, so this way I could still have a second 20" if needed.

Lake side 53, would it be possible to replace the tip on 3/8 X50X36IN over to a .325X50X36in. I would like to try milling with a .325 once and see how it would work. Thank you , Jim

Yes, it's possible? Or yes, it's not worth it? Or yes to both? :biggrinbounce2:
If it is possible, any idea what parts I would need to do it and approximate cost? The only #'s I see on the bar are at the very back. At the bottom it says: YA283, and at the top is says: 8921.

The sprocket assembly (bearing, sprocket etc) lists for about about $15.95 (only $1.00 less than the nose assembly for an ES bar).

An 8921 is a 3/8 50 bar, and you'll need a 10 tooth sprocket - part number 3003 650 9922... but check it with your dealer..

Big thanks! Would sure be cheaper than a new bar. Just as long as my local dealer doesn't have a huge mark-up on them anyway! Next step is to make sure this bar will work on the 041. It looks like it should........
