Search the 252 threads and put in "plyscamp" also in the search box, he's talked about what he did a couple of times. I'm running the stock setup with the 35hp Briggs, no issues.

Man they get ya on parts up there. Last time I bought the small pulley it was about $40 and the big $70. Belts here are about $40 if I remember correctly. Anyway, did you check the jackshaft pulley to make sure the inner grooves aren't worn down? Put a straight edge across the entire width, inner ones should be just as tall as the thick outer edges of the pulley, if much below belts will wear fast and slip. But you probably checked that already. The grooves on the bigger pulley (sheave actually) never seem to wear.
