Has anyone had stump grinder teeth retipped by Schwab Machine Service. I would like to know if they are as good as new teeth. Sounds like you could save some $$$. Thanks

I started a thread about a month ago and nobody replied. I would guess it wouldn't be as good as new but if they were half way good...it may be something to look at.

Found this thread searching for info on re-tipping stump teeth. It is a few years old, but I was wondering if anyone is using re-tips now. Also opinions on what do you think of the idea? Wonder if the potential for a problem exists from heating the tips over and over to replace carbide, plus the pounding the tooth takes regularly and being re-used. With the price of fuel getting ready to skyrocket again this season, looking for some $$$ saving ideas to keep prices down and cutting the grinding tooth price in half would be a good start. Thanks :)
I guess this should be in the equipment forums but this is where I found it.

I have been retipping rayco super teeth for about the last 18 months with no negatives. This was only out of desperation as new teeth retail for $40n.z.And tips are $4n.z.I will normally sharpen once or twice then ezi flow on the new tip about 5mins per tooth.

I will get my dad to make a post (or tell me what to say). Sorry i didnt get it last weekend, been real busy.

We retip ours to a like new condition (minus wear to the shank, no problems there though) for $1.15 plus time. I think we only retip the one time, but i could be wrong.

Alright, I am interested in the rebuilding of teeth.

I wonder how they do it? Weld and grind? I remember seeing an add back in the day but I still wanna know how they do it.

(they not meaning border city, but whoever rebuilds them)

ive heard the best way is to bake them on,the adheisive comes in a flat strip you need to do a fair few everytime it will hold better.

They are Either Brazed or silversoldered from the factory.Which either is not a big deal if you have an acetylene torch.
