Is the 10 hp difference worth the $2000 upgrade?

Not sure exactly what is different between the two machines, both are gas brigs and Stratton? but the price difference between a 25 and a 35 hp engine is not 2k bucks... so there better be other upgrades that accompany the bigger motor. But yes you will notice a huge difference with ten extra hp. With low hp engines a few hp really does make a difference.
Think about how a roto tiller with 5hp runs compared to one with 8hp it's a world or difference but it's only 3hp more.

Good point- I believe that the 35hp engine is a direct bolt on replacement for the CH740 25hp one and the cost is in the 2K range

The 25hp is a small block, 35 hp is a big block engine. So not quite a direct replacement, clutch prob different too.
But having done a changeout on a 252 from a 25 to a 35 the diff is huge. If you can afford the 35 get it.
