hey yall I was just wondering what are some good advanced rigging books that I could get. I was looking at ISA's "the art and science of practical rigging" and could all of you rate this book? Also does anyone have any favorites?

Also I am looking at a couple of blocks. The dmm large impact block compared to the isc 3/4 large or medium and I would like to know what the guys with experience thought about these

Great book, get it. Buy every sized block ya can. Bag o tricks, bigger the better

the large DMM block is nice but it's $$$. It's mostly just eye candy unless you do very big rigging operations. There are plenty of good 3/4" blocks out there for a lot less money. I'd take 2 or 3 regular 3/4" blocks over the DMM if I were just starting up. I've got the DMM block and a bunch of others, big and small. More ropes and pulleys gives you more options for sure. 3 or 4 good bull ropes, a couple tag lines, a porty and a drum and a handfull of blocks covers you for so much work. You rarely need anything beyond that.

Bull rope

I'm about to buy a rigging rope. Probably 16 mm. But should there be any dynamic strech in the rope so that it can absorb the shock load better? Or is that a negative thing?
Göran.

I have and use rope that has dynamic stretch, dynasorb, and husky. If you think your going to be in situations that might end up shock loading a rope they can sure smooth out the ride. Their not rubber bands, they only stretch a few percent more then a line like stable braid, but over a distance it makes a difference for sure. They don't stretch so much your going to misjudge and put something through a roof. Are they perfect for every situation? No of course not, but what rope is.
It only took one dead catch from some inexperienced groundsmen to make a believer out of me
For the money husky rope is an excellent dynamic rope(Most rigging lines are dynamic to some degree)
