Someone was trying to describe a different type of ripping chain to me today. They described it as 2 conventional cutters ground to a shallow angle, followed by 2 very thin cutters ground at a different angle, then back to the conventional cutters, etc.

They were having some trouble describing it, and did not have any to show me. Any one heard of something like this?

Thanks.

sounds like nothing ive heard of but i dont know everything.
i got a couple loops of windsor ripping chain.
the only difference from a full chisel chain is the top plate of the cutter tooth is filed it a 10* or 15* angle as opposed to a normal 30* or 35* (sharper the angle the softer the wood)((dead pine you could go to 45" and probably be fine"))

Sounds like Granberg ripping chain.
Google Granberg chain for specifics.

I just use regular chain and slowely grind the top * back toward 15 * keep a good hook and keep it sharp. Bob put a lot of info on chains in the stickey at the top . 15 * cuts smother than30 * and lower the drags till it makes big chips and saw is working and you aint .
