I'm having some questions on sharpening some chains. Does everybody here sharpen their ripping chains 90* to the bar (side plate angle)? I noticed that the woodland pro chains (through Baileys) suggest a 80* side plate angle. This is for the 43RP (full comp.) which is a .404 pitch chain I use for my 880 Mag. I tried this angle conbined with the 10* top plate angle and it seems to take more of the front of the tooth than the back. I half expected this due to the change in the side plate angle. On my other saw (MS 390) I always sharpened my rip chians 90* to the bar with a 10* top plate. It seemed to work fine. Just wondering if i should be doing the same for these bigger 43RP's. Thanks to all.
