any thoughts on using a dynamic rope in the tree

We don't use the rope as an aid against a fall, we use the rope as a work positioning device. We want that rope to stop when we say stop.

When you are 10' from electrical lines, you don't want any "give" in the equation.

Dynamic Rope In Trees?????

any thoughts on using a dynamic rope in the tree

I understand there is this huge group of nature loving tree hugging hippie types that do this thing called "recreational climbing" in trees and even place hamocks in the canopy and sleep up there. They probably use dynamic rope. We who "work" in trees never use dynamic, as any "fall" should be no more than a foot or two. Additionally when supported by dynamic and you cut off a 100 pound chunk that is wrapped under one arm so you can throw down to a target location, at completion of cut you and the chunk drop like a foot or two bouncing a bit. If the saw is not quite idled down yet this can be quite exciting. Took apart my first tree with dynamic . . .

NOW YOU KNOW

Wow, two pointedly opinionated posts on dynamic rope, who would have thought it.

At any rate, cost is always a factor in life but there are ways to save money and rope is usually not one that people choose to go cheap on.
