how does everyone rope limbs wat knots do you use if you dont have a sling i like a spreadout clove hitch for big wood and a running bowline works great for smaller stuff just curious what you use theres more than one way to skin a cat

A running bowline or clove hitch work for me in any situation I've come across in the last 40 years. I can't see any reason either won't work in all situations. I like to use clove hitches when I'm roping 3 or four limbs at once like on a pine tree. The ground man needs only to loosen them up and slip the hitch off the end of the branch. Speeds things up on the ground.

Bigger pieces I run a couple of half hitches on'em and then a sliding bowline. If I have a steel biner on the end I attach it with a fisherman termination knot and clip it around the line like I would with the sliding bowline and half hitches. Speeds things up on the ground. I attach the porty around the base of the tree with a timber hitch or cow hitch if a large trunk. Same with the blocks in the tree, cept the one on the whoopie sling! Have lines sent up quick and easy with a larks head.
