Well I went to a antique farm show this weekend (Sat). Of course I really expected to see some great old Vintage Iron But there really was was something for everone there, and in checking out the flea market vendors Lo n Behold this young fella had quite a trailer load of gold!! (junk in most womens eyes) But being a arborist site jr member, I have been bitten by the chainsaw bug  But anyway don't hold that against me, He had some vintage chainsaws and I was compelled to purchase. A remington PRO 88. The only other one I have ever seen was on here, Posted by CAPORAL So after some pleasant bantering, We agreed on a price and I was :biggrinbounce2: . Well after touring the place 3 more times I went back to grab my booty and he still hadn't sold any of the others. so I was struck again to get one more. And what took me a bit to figure out what it was when I got home, Was a BOLENS Swifty (crica 1961-1962 one yr only ). I know they arent Stihls but hey I have 2 and they are  So today I started in on the big one, the recoil was needing a little attention, worked ok but wouldn't go all the way in. It had plenty of rope so I shortened it a bit,Then I checked for spark, and it had spark! The next problem was the chain was stuck, So I pulled the bar and chain only to find that the clutch drum was toast, bearings?????? what bearings, they were lost somewhere in a pile of snow, leaves, and wood chips. :bang: At any rate I wanted to hear this big dog run squirted a little carby juice into the jug and gave it 2 pulls and it fired! I said self.. just maybe.. Well the air intake was dirty pulled it and the carb looked really clean, The screws still had paint on them. so I looked into getting the stale gas out of the tank, Tank looked pretty good. put in some fresh mix, Then I pulled the high and low screws high side had a bit of crud but nothing to bad, Squirted more carb cleaner into the jets, put them back in at 1 1/2 turns, squirted the carb juice down it's throat, And gave my right arm a work out She ran breifly after about 5 pulls ( Now I'm starting to get a woody)!I tried a cple more shots it wouldn't catch, So I went into the fuel inlet at the bottom of the carb, There was a ball of spider doo doo or something like that blocking the inlet of the carb and the screen needed a shot of cleaner. ( Sorry for the long story ) really it was only a cple hrs LOL. Buttoned the carb back up and tried again, This time on the second try It fired and caught went to running. You all know the feeling! So now that I have tied ya'll up for while, I hope I can get one of guys on this site to catch this thread, and help me find a clutch for this saw. I surfed ebay the only thing I found for this ole warrior was the decals. your help and comments would be great. The old BOLENS is next.

Very nice indeed. The 88 looks like a monster, especially with that sweet roller nose, and the big dawg.
The swifty has a good size exhaust port too.

Nice find  and goodluck on your parts quest
