Hello, im new to this whole forum thing. I am trying to seek a little bit of info. If anyone could help me with any info on how to get a foot in the door with any of the timber outfits in the northwest it would be deeply appriciated. I am a veteran climber in WV and am looking for a chance to run up some of the monster trees out west. Any info would go a long way, thanks again..

I'm getting better at speaking and understanding hillbilly, but this post is a bit out of my leauge. Lets focus a bit, the N.W. consits of Idaho, Oregon and most importanly Washington. What state do you want to work in. If you are a timber cutter stick with welfare you'll make more money. If you aint a C.A. plan on dragging lots of brush, thats most of what you will be doing.Hope that helps, Good luck.

If you are a veteran climber, I would assume you would know how to advance your career. Are you a Troll?

My advice is not matter where you are is to save your bucks on the CA, leave the brush draggin to the mexies and head straight for the welfare.

Listen, WV, the only idiots here are the idiots replying to your question. Heh, they got beef with a guy that has a question and is from WV. Did you hear that??? I got beef with these knuckle heads that can't hear a dannm thing you're saying. But I have a trained ear for their sort of thing, so I'm going to help them.

Listen up, knuckle heads. Quit coming to my computer in your underwear like we don't know. This crap just says that the tree monkeys are not keen on these tings. I'll never be your friends, and you'll never understand what folk are talking about. HeLl, take a look at this thread. You couldn't even answer a minor question. One of the simpler questions I might ad. Now pay me back you old bags of bones.

WV, try doodling around like your doing here in other tree forums. That much you must know. If I were looking for that job, I'd apply to some of the companies out there. Google logging companys and the state names you're looking in. You might just email all of them that come up, and you could even go as far as emailing a saw mill your song and dance...errr...um....your proposal. They may pay you the respect by replying with a brief list naming the logging crews to get ahold of that deal them their sticks. They're proly decent people up there, but here at AS though, we have our hounds and we have the decents too. Don't mind the decents. There bites are smaller than their minds.

BTW, NEVER COME BACK TO AS (ARBORISTSITE.COM) YA MANGEY MUTT!!!!

:msp_thumbup: Just kiddin'. I bet you thought I was a real killer with all those little letters I just typed like that. And way to get out there and try a whole new field. Just for a new feel by the way you describe your plans there.

Realy?? that Figures

What good is this forum??? I guess its because I'm a WV Redneck that I thought I would get a different response. However this, like all other encounters with Northern F#*ks ends with the same uneeded and unearned ego. So keep acting the part on the web. I hope the day comes that we meet so I can show YALL "thats right YALL is a word in my region" how to strap on a set of Hooks "thats hilljack for spikes"or hell we have even been known to do it barfooted in these Parts. I'd love to learn ya somthin....... DAM YANKEES

not very subtle huh?

what the op is trying to do is essentally change professions within a profession so the question is vailid in my opinion... being a timber faller is much different then being a climber. sure the guy could go apply at any tree service and be the top climber with his resume, but will that resume get him a job with a logging outfit felling trees? probably not.

WVTreeKing, from what I gather you kinda need to know someone... it seems to get handed down from generation to generation especially now that the economy is down there isn't a huge demand for logging so its going to stick in the family.

your best bet might be to just find some of the logging outfits out there and just call them and explain your self maybe you'll get lucky

If you're serious, one of my buddies from high school owns a logging outfit in Oregon. Can't promise he will hire you but if you PM me and let me know you are still interested I'll make an inquiry for you and give you his contact number. As I understand it he does a lot of Heli-logging. That's a pretty tough gig for a residential climber IMO.

By the way, my buddy is from Boston. ;)
