I am new to climbing and still in high school, my forestry teacher climbs but only doing local jobs, so i am starting to climb and work with him. I climb with his gear and he has a new tribe saddle. i was wondering what would be the best saddle to get if i was to get one? and maybe spurs too?

to everyone his own . i like weaver wide back w/ floating D and bashlin spurs with pole gaffs. do you like his stuff? is it comfortable to you? that's all that matters is if you are comfortable

well i wanted to see what you guys thought but i actually bought a weaver cougar saddle i love that. the new tribe was nice not alot of back support though. and i bought buckingham suprs. they seem to be nice i havent climbed with really anything else i need new boots though they dig into my ankles.

I remember those day i would go home with grapfruit sized bruses on my ankles thats why i went with bashlins. back support is important cause it will make you hurt if your in a saddle for a long time.

i use danners, but alot like hoffmans. redwings are good too. it just depends on how much you want to spend know what i mean

saddle

i have all buckingham gear. all top of the line equipment 3 years ago and still works great for me. not comfortable using other brands

I was pretty harsh with my original statement. Buckinghams aren't bad spikes, I prefer Gecko II's, which are considerably more expensive, but so much lighter and comfortable.

i have heard good things of the gecko spurs. its just my preference of using steel over carbon fiber. the lightweight would be nice but i trust the steel to be sturdier. everyone has there own preference but us guys here have a high preference of the buckingham gear

Gecko II's have aluminum shanks and fiberglass wraps with a pad. Gecko II CF's are carbon fiber and must be ordered at your desired height. Gecko II's can be adjusted because they aren't one piece. They might not last as long but the weight and comfort you gain is worth the price. To each their own.

i love my aluminum bashlins never go back there light and comfortable:greenchainsaw:

Hey I have a great school to go to if you want to continue your education in Urban Forestry....search Mid-State Technical College, Wisconsin Rapids, WI.....we have everything!!!
